  • Martha Stewart shared her exact green juice recipe on Instagram.
  • “It really does keep my skin looking really good. It keeps my hair nice and thick. And I really believe in drinking green juice each and every day,” she said.
  • The recipe includes greens, like spinach, celery, and herbs, as well as citrus and ginger.

Queen of the kitchen Martha Stewart has always delivered what the people want, which is why she is blessing us with a comprehensive, step-by-step tutorial on how to make her favorite green juice. You know, the one she’s been drinking every day “year after year after year.”

“It really does keep my skin looking really good. It keeps my hair nice and thick. And I really believe in drinking green juice each and every day,” the lifestyle mogul, then 79, said in a March 31 Instagram TV video.

You’ll be delighted to know it’s a pretty simple recipe. Of course, Stewart features only the freshest ingredients from her greenhouse and garden, but if you don’t have your own produce patch to pick from, the juice will be just as nutritious and tasty with the store-bought stuff.

However, when it comes to the juicer, Stewart recommends not skimping out on the best. She uses the Breville Bluicer Pro. “You have to have a really good juicer,” she said. “It’s worth the investment.” After turning on the machine and making sure it’s on “green smoothie” mode she starts juicing. Here’s the step-by-step recipe.

Celery goes in first.

Stewart goes in with a full bunch of celery—two or three stalks. “Don’t forget the leaves!” she said.

Then, she adds two cucumbers.

They’re “essential” with “lots of nutrition,” Stewart explained.

Next goes in fresh parsley, mint, and her fruits of choice.

Stewart said she likes to add “a little bit of fruit” to her green juice, and her favorite is pineapple—with the rind. “Don’t peel the pineapple!” she urged. That, along with a handful of parsley and a sprig of mint follow the cucumbers. And then, “if you like citrus,” she said, “a wedge or two” of orange and lemon can join the party.

She passes on kale and cabbage.

“There’s nothing in it that’s gonna make you burp,” Stewart said, referring to those darker greens. “I just don’t like the taste of [kale] in a juice. I use it all the time in salads.”

Fresh ginger root and spinach complete the drink.

“Maybe an inch or two” of ginger root packs a strong, spicy punch, and a large bunch of fresh spinach puts the “green” in green juice. And that’s it!

After the last ingredient is added, Stewart switches the juicer off and pours herself a glass from the pitcher o’ juice. “It’s not too thick,” she said. “Probably six ounces will do.” The recipe actually makes three six-ounce glasses, as shown at the end of Stewart’s video, so that’s something to keep in mind (as it likely only stays fresh for a day or two in the fridge).

Happy juicing!
