The Details of Apply for E-ZPass MA

What you need for Apply for E-ZPass MA

To open an E-ZPass MA account online you will need the following information:

  • License plate number(s) as listed on your vehicle registration
  • Vehicle(s) make, model, and year
  • Credit card, debit card, or banking information for payments

Prefer to mailan application, download an E-ZPass MA application

Your free transponder will be mailed to the address on your account.

Apply in person at one of our Customer Service Centers and receiveyour free transponder immediately.

New transponders are provided at no cost(replacement fee applies for lost, stolen or damaged).E-ZPass MA fee schedule

Toll Payment Options:

Automatic Account Replenishment (prepaid)

Assign a credit/debit card or checking account number to your account for your Initial payment.

  • Private Individual Account – $20per transponder
  • Commercial Business Account – $50per transponder

As tolls are incurred, they will deduct from the initial payment. When your account balance becomes low, your account will be automatically replenished using your assigned choice.

Per section 2, paragraph i, of the EZDriveMA Terms and Conditions,your E-ZPass MAaccount activity mayperiodically be reviewed and your replenishment amount may be changed to accurately reflect your average monthly toll usage.

Open your account with the initial payment:

  • Private Individual Account – $30per transponder
  • Commercial Business Account – $50per transponder

As tolls are incurred, they will deduct from the initial payment. *It is your responsibility to track your balance and replenish your account to pay your tolls.

How long does it take to get an E-ZPass in Massachusetts? ›

Members establish an E-ZPass account with Mass DOT using a credit card with an initial balance of $20.00 per transponder. The transponder will be active in three business days after the application is submitted. Transponders can be used throughout Massachusetts and out of state where E-ZPass is accepted.

Yes, you may transfer a transponder between vehicles as long as they are of the same vehicle class.
